City Centre Transportation Master Plan
What is this study about?
The City of Pickering’s population is expected to exceed 150,000 by the year 2036. One of the growth areas identified in the City’s 2021 Integrated Transportation Master Plan is the City Centre. As such, City of Pickering has undertaken the City Centre Transportation Master Plan study to:
- Identity and address transportation needs and challenges within the City’s downtown core for future intensification over a 10 and 20-year development horizon.
- Assess the multi-modal travel needs of the redevelopment plans, area road network operations, and transit, bicycle, and pedestrian networks to identify future transportation infrastructure needs.
- Incorporate new and planned development within the study area (see below) in the assessment, including but not limited to, the comprehensive revitalization of The Shops at Pickering City Centre (formerly the Pickering Town Centre) shopping mall lands.
