City of Pickering Appoints Marisa Carpino as New CAO

City Pickering Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Marisa Carpino, as its permanent Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

An executive search consultant conducted a nation-wide search that attracted nearly 100 candidates.  Carpino’s proven leadership track record, as well as her vision for a progressive, prosperous, and inclusive Pickering ultimately won the endorsement of the Mayor and Council.

Carpino has over 25 years of municipal government experience including 10 years at the senior executive level.  In that span, she has demonstrated a strong ability to lead the organization’s full staff complement, while also achieving excellent results in financial management, strategic planning, facility design & construction, organizational reviews & audits, community programming, and service delivery.

Over the past year, as the Deputy CAO and later Interim CAO, Carpino led Pickering’s COVID-19 response and oversaw the seamless transition of City Hall to an online business and service model.  Despite the immense challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic, she was able to manage multiple issues, while also advancing a number of key economic and community initiatives, including the creation of Pickering’s anti-Black Racism taskforce.
