I am Ontario

This work was commissioned and created as part of Pickering’s I Am Ontario Youth Arts Showcase – Youth Art Challenge. The Challenge was offered with the support of the Ontario 150 Celebration Grant, to commemorate Ontario’s Sesquicentennial in 2017.

The piece was selected through a province-wide call to youth artists aged 10 - 25 years. Youth artists were invited to express the theme “I Am Ontario”. Submissions were juried by an expert panel, after which the top three pieces were presented to a public to be voted on. The piece that received the largest community vote was to be recreated into a piece of public art.
