Community Piano Project

The Community Piano Project was installed at the east end of Esplanade Park over the Spring and Summer of 2021.

The donated piano was painted by Durham artist Aisha Chiguichon, who was selected by the Cultural Advisory Committee to celebrate the achievements of Black artists and culture. The work speaks to the unifying nature of music, and is intended to inspire dialogue around race, diversity, and unity.

If you missed seeing the Piano Project this summer, it has been relocated to the George Ashe Library and Community Centre until the end of the year (2021).
