Community Safety and Well-Being

Community safety and well-being are at the heart of building a vibrant and thriving community. By addressing key areas like mental health, social inclusion, and public safety, we can create neighborhoods that are safe, welcoming, and supportive for all. A strong focus on improving living standards, promoting equity, and fostering a sense of belonging helps ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live, work, and play in a healthy, inclusive environment. Together, we are working towards a safer, more connected, and resilient community for all residents.

Join us for a Community Safety Meeting focused on understanding homelessness supports in our community and learning how residents can connect individuals in need with the right resources.

The Durham Region 24 hour Street Outreach Team will deliver an informative session about the essential work they do every day to support unsheltered residents. Their team provides on the ground assistance, basic needs supplies, transportation to warm spaces, and direct connections to housing, health services, addiction supports, and other critical programs. They will also share how community members can safely and effectively refer individuals who may be experiencing homelessness, and what resources are available through local Homelessness Support Hubs and outreach services.

This session will help residents better understand the outreach system, recognize when someone may need support, and learn how to access services that promote dignity, safety, and well-being for all.

We look forward to connecting with you and supporting a caring and inclusive community.
