  • Spirit of Pickering - Gather, Inspire, Live and Work

    The Spirits of Pickering are sculptures that represent the people of Pickering. It shows the many parts of life that are embodied. And each includes parts that can be moved and played with, most often being bells or chimes. In a way, this shows how we can interact with others in the community, much like we can interact with the moving parts of these sculptures.

  • The Pickering Pioneer Family

  • Community Canvas

    The Community Canvas is a collage that was created through community collaboration. 150 panels of artwork to celebrate 150 years – three of Tom’s paintings were chosen to be broken down into a 50-square template for the Pickering community to create their own original piece.

  • Pickering to Share its Casino Revenues with Durham Region – a First in Ontario

    March 23, 2023 – Today, Mayor Kevin Ashe and Members of Pickering Council, along with Regional Chair John Henry, marked the City of Pickering’s commitment to voluntarily share its gaming revenues with the Region of Durham, which will act as a critical source of funding in advancing shared priorities for the broader community.

    March 20, 2023 - The Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) has recognized Pickering as one of the world’s Smart21 Communities of 2023.

    The ICF’s annual awards program recognizes the world’s leading municipalities that are successfully leveraging the power of technology to develop inclusive and prosperous communities.

  • Hope and Healing

    In 2022, Tracey-Mae Chambers, Métis artist and a member of the Métis Nation of Ontario, installed #hopeandhealingcanada at the Pickering Museum Village, Puterbaugh Schoolhouse. Though no longer available, framed photographs will be exhibited inside the lobby at Chestnut Hill Development Recreation Complex (1867 Valley Farm Rd.) starting March 18, 2023.
